AWOL One – Rhythm

Another suggestion from my bud Joe A. It takes a bit to get into it, but it is worth the wait. I would say the flute sample is what makes this song catchy. Came out awhile ago but AWOL One is consistent and works with a lot of Fake Four (record label) artists who are always people to look out for.

I agree that the flute (as well as the opening instrumentation) makes this one special. And the phrase “the district of garments” is a nice play on NYC’s Garment District. I’m disappointed in the stale egocentric pose, though.

    • The egocentric problem is so central to hip hop’s history that I can’t imagine it is going to become extinct anytime soon. I agree completely though that it is stale. It is just really hard to avoid.
